Catholic Cuba

Day 1 | USA – Havana
Depart the USA for Havana, Cuba. Meals are served aboard your flight. Upon arrival we meet our Escort and transfer to our hotel in Havana. Enjoy a welcome dinner this evening (B, D).

Day 2 | Havana
Wake up to a traditional Cuban breakfast before we head out to explore the enchanting city of Havana. We start our tour this morning walking through the Old City. We will hear about the long complicated history of the Communist state and we will discuss the current reconstruction of the area. After this walking tour we arrive at the Cathedral of the Virgin Mary of the Immaculate Conception. We will celebrate Holy Mass and have time for personal prayer before walking to the Convento de San Francisco de Asis. This convent has become a place to recognize international peace for Cuba with other nations. This evening enjoy dinner with the group at a local restaurant. (B, D)

Day 3 | Havana – Cienfuegos
This morning we eat our breakfast and head out to the southern coast. We are traveling to Cienfuegos, a charming city that is known as La Perla del Sur (the pearl of the south). We will drop off our bags at the hotel and start our tour downtown. This area exemplifies remarkable neoclassical buildings and our guide will take his time explaining these beautiful sites. We will celebrate Holy Mass at the Cathedral de la Purisma Concepcion (Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception). Our tour will also include famous sites such as the botanical gardens and a visit to the bay to see dolphins and sea lions in the saltwater. This evening we will enjoy a dinner together at our hotel. Day 4 | Cienfuegos – Jagua – Cienfuegos
Today we head to the beach. Just 45 minutes away from our hotel, Jagua is home to some of the most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean. We will arrive in the morning and the rest of the day is yours to lounge on the beach or explore the small town at your leisure. This evening we return to Cienfuegos for dinner at a local restaurant and our overnight. (B, D)

Day 5 | Cienfuegos – Trinidad
We board our comfortable coach this morning and travel to Trindad. This colonial city has roots dating back to Hernán Cortés. We will explore the history of this city with a walking tour and will learn about the most popular industry of the area, sugar trade. We will celebrate Holy Mass at the Church of the Holy Trinity and then have free time for lunch. After lunch we visit Casilda Bay for a long afternoon of relaxation where you are free to snorkel or swim. Tonight we dine together in Trinidad. (B, D)

Day 6 | Trinidad – Santa Clara
This morning we are making our way west again and are stopping in Santa Clara. We will visit places such as Loma del Carmen, the Plaza Mayor, the Cathedral of Saint Clare of Assisi, and the final battle sites of the Cuban revolution. There is such a complex history here and we will spend the day learning how the Catholic Church helped form the country we see today. Tonight enjoy a group dinner at our hotel. (B, D)

Day 7 | Santa Clara – Havana
Today we make our journey back to Havana where upon arrival you will have free time to explore any areas that you missed out on last time. We will dine together as a group at a local restaurant to share memories from this amazing trip. (B, D)

Day 8 | Havana – USA
After breakfast, transfer to the local airport for your flight back to the USA.
